Of interest to the entire historical depth explored by our team, the characterization of bone trauma is a central issue in the study of the skeletal remains of an individual. A thesis work co-supervised with the University of Coimbra (Portugal) is underway to develop a prognostic tool for the etiology of a fracture (distinction between fall and blow). Other projects are being developed in partnership with the pediatric radiology and orthopedic surgery departments of the AP-HM to distinguish between ante-peri and post-mortem fractures, and to estimate the age of the occurrence of a fracture during repair. Two master subjects will be launched in 2023-2024 to support the methodological feasibility of a thesis, planned from 2025. Finally, a collaboration with A. Ribéreau-Gayon, post-doctoral researcher at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières and member of the REST[ES] project (Research on Experimental and Social Thanatology) will allow us to take into consideration the effects of taphonomy in the study of bone trauma.
