Several researchers who are part of the axis n°1 have in common to question the social norms and representations related to pregnancy and birth. The arrival of statutory members from the FSMPM maieutic school in Marseille (including the person in charge, Carole Zakarian) can only strengthen the team's capacity to respond to calls for projects.
The first links between maieutics and ethics were created during the past year. Teacher-researchers in ethics and in midwifery have come together through university training and midwifery thesis tutorials. The maieutics professors will work on the definition of the normality of labor and the parturition process by studying the files of the former cohort available on site (5300 files, 1300 of which have been examined and 1000 are in progress with the supervised students). This project will be carried out in collaboration with Prof. Tosello and Prof. Blanc, who is a member of ISSPAM, an institution of excellence that federates other AMU research units

This project will focus on the notion of parenthood and will be based on the observation of a rate of 15 to 20%

of post-partum depression, 34 % of maternal burn-out within 3 years after birth. These observational data have created the need to study the impact of social norms on the development of parenthood and to study the impact of the birth experience on the feeling of parenting skills. The goal is to propose a screening tool for obstetrical trauma. Collaborations are envisaged with Pr Tosello in connection with the Centre Psyclé of AMU. To study this longitudinal and national cohort, an Amidex financing is possible.

Component "Women's health and painful body"

Based on both qualitative and quantitative surveys, this project will be oriented towards the study of beliefs and taboos that revolve around the menstrual cycle. Most women with endometriosis (10%) suffer intensely during their periods and represent this pain as "normal". This representation, conveyed by social habits, explains why the women concerned do not consult a doctor and consequently do not benefit from any treatment (an average delay of 7 years in diagnosis). Endometriosis is associated with infertility and a reduced quality of life.
The research will study the levers of action necessary to change the representation of the normality of pain and the generational and cultural beliefs transmitted to women. It will be carried out in collaboration with the " Gynéco Marseille " team (Dr. Estrade) and the Gynécologique de la Conception team (Pr. Agostini). Possible funding will be provided by the ARS and the EndoFrance Association.
On the inter-team level, this project will pursue studies of neonatal biometries and their secular evolution in collaboration with the BONES team (Pr. Adalian) and a study of autopsy reports of 19th century patients in collaboration with Pr. Bartoli (axis 5: Health law).
