For all of our study contexts, whether paleoanthropology, archaeothanatology or forensic anthropology, the question of the preservation and perpetuation of the source of scientific information is paramount. The challenge of this project, initiated in 2021, is to characterize the respective contributions of medical imaging techniques (CT scans, MRI) and 3D surface acquisitions (laser or structured light scanners, photogrammetry) in the reading of VAB. The possibility of going back to the initial acquisition of the VAB to exploit it scientifically in a different way at a time T+1, according to the progress of our methodological research,

represents a significant saving of time in the revision and the update of our studies. Moreover, for the medico-legal aspects, the notion of traceability of the treatment chain will be greatly improved, and we will be able at any time to review and reanalyze the morphology of the original bone specimen (before any potentially destructive examination). Finally, the contributions to the study, conservation and valorization of fossils will also be addressed. A strong interaction with the project "HERITAGE" of our first axis is obviously developed.
